Christmas in July (6/30/24-8/4/24) Collecting Donations for the Topton Lutheran Home Residents The real spirit of Christmas is giving, loving, caring and serving We can share the love of Christ with our families our friends and whoever comes across our path…we can generously give to the ones less fortunate than us. We can be willing to serve others as needs arise. We can pray for and with others. How it works:Residents select items from the July donations. Volunteers then wrap the items which are delivered to each resident on Christmas morning by Santa & Mrs. Claus. Requested items: (Please, only new & unwrapped items) Men: Pajamas, flannel shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants sizes Large to 2XL Women: Pajama sets, sweatshirts, sweaters, pull on jeans and sweatpants sizes large to 3XL Rally Day, September 8, 2024 (kick-off for Sunday School) FOR ALL AGES!
Pre-K to 6th grade will begin Sept. 8th, at 9:15 a.m. with a Scavenger Hunt and special “Welcome Back-to-Sundae-School” treat!
Confirmation Class Meeting – Pr. Dody, teachers and mentors will meet with students and parents of the confirmation class to review the requirements needed to complete confirmation. The meeting will be held Sunday, September 8th, at 9:15 a.m. in the confirmation classroom.
Blessing of the Backpacks for all age students will be held Sept. 8th during both worship services.
Teacher Installation – a time for members to support and pray for Sunday School volunteers will be held Sept. 8th during both worship services.
Goodies with Grands – a celebration to honor grandparents will be held Sept. 8th in the Memory Room after each service
Circle of Faith (adult Sunday School class) begins again on Sunday, Sept. 15th, at 9:15 a.m.
Saturday, September 21st - Knobel’s Family Day Come, spend a fun-filled family day at Knoebels Amusement Park, with your church family. There’s free parking, free park attendance, hamburgers and hot dogs provided by your church family, and a $20 ride pass for Pre-K to 8th grade students and youth attending Jordan Church! While you may not want to go on the rides, please enjoy the reserved table space in the pavilion, noon to 8 pm to eat, play cards, board games, or simply relax. We will meet to eat together in the pavilion at 4 p.m. Please bring a lite side dish or dessert to share. This is a rain or shine event. SIGN UP ON THE SHEET LOCATED IN THE NARTHEX!! Sunday, October 6th - GWOH. The youth are inviting anyone interested in gift-wrapping empty boxes during God's Work Our Hands. The boxes will be used for Christmas gifts for the Holiday Hope Chest gift boxes for children.

Basket Social / Craft Social - New Date, New Time, New Addition, New Deadline Date! Please note a new date and time, Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 9 am – 1 pm, has been designated for the basket social in the Family Center with an addition of a craft fair in the Fireplace Room. We welcome donations of NEW items and gift cards for the basket social. Baskets and cellophane wrap are available in the Memory Room for your convenience. If you wrap your own basket, please include a list of the items in the basket. If you prefer, we will do the wrapping for you. Wrapped baskets and donated items will be collected Sunday, September 1st - Sunday, October 13th in the Memory Room or drop off in Steph Derstine's office. Gift cards are to be placed in an envelope in the offering plate noted: BASKET SOCIAL. If you are a crafter, please consider participating in our craft fair the day of our basket social. Secure a table for $20. Doors will open in the Family Center at 9 am. Drawing will be at 1 pm. Winners will be notified by phone. Prizes may be picked up between 4 – 6 pm day of the raffle or Sunday, November 3rd from noon – 2 p.m. We will need donated baked goods and volunteers for a variety of positions. Saturday, December 14th – Family Christmas Caroling. All ages are invited to gather together to stroll through Parkland Manor and Heather Glen sharing our beloved Christmas carols and a few fun children’s Christmas songs, from 2 – 4 pm. Refreshments to follow at church in the Memory Room. Sunday, December 14th - Youth and Children's Christmas Program, during the 9:15 am worship service. Rehearsals will be held at 1:00 on Dec. 14th (prior to Christmas caroling), and briefly at 8:15 on Dec. 14th.
Jordan's 290th Anniversary Celebration! Celebrate our 290 years of heritage and tradition on Sunday, October 27th. Events are being planned so watch for more information coming soon!
Bear Creek Camp Lifelong friendships, learned skills, opportunity for respite and retreat, and acceptance into a community that is welcoming and open to all. The discovery that happens at the end of the red dirt road can only be described as “life-changing” and has continued for generations thanks to the support and generosity of so many. Together we are Bear Creek Camp and together we are making a positive impact on the world. Bear Creek Camp Summer 2024 registration is underway! Please know there is financial assistance available from JELC for students to attend. Jordan will provide 1/2 of the campership fee for youth members! (students completed grade 1 – 12) Last summer, 1 out of every 2 campers received some form of financial assistance to attend camp and 1 out of every 5 received a full camp scholarship. Ongoing Clothing Drive We actively collect used clothing all year. Place your bags (reasonably filled to lift) in the available bins located at the Office Entrance and the old Social Hall. Drop off times: Sunday mornings before worship and Mon. – Fri. - 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. or during office hours. Accepted Items: Gently used clothing & shoes (men’s, women’s & children’s), purses, belts, backpacks, hats, scarves, gloves, ties, blankets, tablecloths, bed sheets, curtains & drapes, pillows, towels, quilts, comforters, stuffed animals. NOT accepted: hard children’s toys, bicycles, baby gear, VCR tapes, CD’s, electronics, monitors, books, workout equipment, mattresses, appliances, furniture, lamps, house décor, board games, glassware, pots & pans, rugs.
